Report: Plane sat dormant for five years
// Federal Aviation Administration News

Pilot Samuel Gore said he lacked power to clear trees at the end of the Pine Mountain Lake Airport runway when his plane crashed on May 10. A 40-year-old Beechcraft that took off and crashed May 10 about 600 yards from the end of the runway at Pine Mountain Lake Airport had not been maintained, operated or flown in at least five years, and possibly 10 years or more, until pre-flight maintenance was conducted before it crashed, according to a preliminary report released Monday.

Guy Straps Himself Into Falling Helicopter To Prove Neil deGrasse Tyson Wrong
// Neatorama

People who question or disagree with a scientific theory often have a hard time proving the theory is wrong, and if they want their proof to resonate with the internet community they must put the proof on video.

So when Destin Sandlin, host of SmarterEveryDay, took issue with a Tweet sent by Neil deGrasse Tyson claiming "A helicopter whose engine fails is a brick" he knew he'd actually have to ride in a falling 'copter to debunk the theory.

Strapping yourself into a falling helicopter to prove it can be landed safely using physics is both sheer lunacy and the most thrilling scientific theory debunking ever caught on video.

Watch this man obliterate the world record for the longest hoverboard flight
// The Next Web

A few weeks back, French jet ski champion Franky Zapata released a video testing this amazing hoverboard that can (theoretically) propel its riders up to 10,000 feet in the air. The video quickly went viral and despite having impressed its viewers, Zapata's remarkable invention – that he calls the Flyboard Air – left many people in doubt about the authenticity of what they've seen. Last week, however, Zapata put out new footage of him flying the hoverboard that decisively answers the doubts of all the naysayers. In his latest video, Zapata not only proves the Flyboard Air is real, but also sets a new world record for the longest…

FAA Registration Expired For Trump Jet [feedly]

----
FAA Registration Expired For Trump Jet
// AVweb Top News

A 1997 Citation X owned by Donald Trump has been flying with an expired FAA registration since January 31, according to a story in today's New York Times. Flying with a lapsed registration -- which costs $5 for three years -- could be a problem in the case of an accident, and also can subject the owner or operator to FAA fines of up to $250,000 and imprisonment up to three years. If the jet is grounded, however, to sort out the paperwork issue, Trump has backup -- three Sikorsky helicopters and a Boeing 757.
